Haematology and medical oncology is a medical speciality that focuses on the treatment of diseases of the blood, bone marrow and lymph nodes. Major conditions treated within the field of haematology include anaemia, acute and chronic forms of leukaemia, malignant changes in the lymph nodes such as those seen in Hodgkin’s disease, disorders of bone marrow haematopoiesis, and coagulation disorders, including an excessive tendency to clot (thrombophilia) and haemophilia.
